About Us
Focusing on the Future by Honoring the Past
The story of Poppy's Pride starts long before Poppy's Pride was an official herd with the American Dairy Goat Association.
For over 15 years, Poppy had grown to love his goats. After he passed in 2017, his last wether, "Peanut", came to live with us. After a few months, we got a call asking if Peanut wanted a retired doe as a buddy. It turned out that DJ was not "retired" and we welcomed mixed twins in March of 2018. And thus the need to have a herd name, and our dive into Oberhasli dairy goats, began.
Emmalee selected her herd name. A tribute to her Great-Grandfather and to tie in her love of lions (a group of lions is pride).
Since our "official" start in 2018, we have learned a lot and grown as individuals and as goat breeders. As we continue to learn and grow, we are thankful for the past and are looking forward to a bright future.
Currently our herd consists of 12 Oberhasli and we now have 2 Alpines. As we grow and develop both breeds, we are thankful for the genetics that we have been able to bring in to our herd to create a wonderful foundation that combines type and production.
